For years we’ve been telling you about the annual Sara Ott Golf Classic held each September at Stoney Creek Golf Course at Wintergreen Resort. Formerly the Wintergreen Nature Foundation Golf Classic, it was renamed in memory of Sara Ott after she passed away in early 2008. Sara and her husband Frank started the fundraising tournament back in 1993 as a way to raise money for what’s now known as The Nature Foundation at Wintergreen. Sadly Frank passed away earlier in 2013 before this year’s 20th annual tournament.

A favorite part of the annual event is the silent auction that happens late in the afternoon followed by a dinner in the evening.

Liz with The Nature Foundation tells us that one of the golfers in the tournament on Friday had already made a hole in one which means he won a new car!
