* FLASH FLOOD WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF VIRGINIA AND NORTHEAST WEST
VIRGINIA…INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING AREAS…IN VIRGINIA…
ALBEMARLE…AUGUSTA…EASTERN HIGHLAND…NELSON…ROCKINGHAM
AND WESTERN HIGHLAND. IN NORTHEAST WEST VIRGINIA…EASTERN
PENDLETON AND WESTERN PENDLETON.
* FROM 10 AM EDT THIS MORNING THROUGH THIS AFTERNOON
* MORE THAN THREE INCHES OF RAIN FELL IN PORTIONS OF THE WATCH
AREA MONDAY. ADDITIONAL RAIN…CURRENTLY OVER KENTUCKY…IS
FORECAST TO MOVE INTO CENTRAL VIRGINIA THIS MORNING.
* MONDAY EVENING COUNTY OFFICIALS REPORTED MULTIPLE ROAD CLOSURES
AND WATER RESCUES ON ROADS. WITH THE SOIL ALREADY SATURATED
ADDITIONAL RAINFALL TODAY MAY CAUSE MORE FLOODING ON ROADS.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…
A FLASH FLOOD WATCH MEANS THAT CONDITIONS MAY DEVELOP THAT LEAD
TO FLASH FLOODING. FLASH FLOODING IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.
