Derius Swinton Speaks To Team And Coaches At NCHS

A real treat for football players and the coaching staff at Nelson County High School earlier this week. Derius Swinton talked about the importance of teamwork, and discipline, as well as staying away from alcohol and illegal drugs.

NCHS Derius Swinton - 0065 — Derius tells players to realize that anything they do to themselves individually, affects the team as a whole.

Derius Swinton has received numerous awards and honors. Using non-traditional and innovative approaches are what led to Derius’ selection as one of only 13 individuals to represent the United States at the International Educational Fellowship Program in China. Other honors include the Outstanding Leadership Award, sponsored by Reader’s Digest; the Virginia Collaborative Leadership Program Award, and the 2006 Amigo Award, sponsored by New Mexico Diversity Committee and Sandia National Laboratories.
