Nelson County, VA

For the second time in two days lightning has set another home on fire in Stoney Creek. On Monday lightning caused a fire that completely destroyed another home on Wood Thrush.

Wintergreen Fire along with Rockfish Rescue responded to a house fire at 575 Far Knob Climb around 5PM Tuesday afternoon. According to WFD Chief Curtis Sheets, it was caused by lightning strike, just like the one on Monday. Heavy thunderstorms with vivid lightning were in the area at the time of the call. The county was under a Severe Thunderstorm Warning at the time as well.

More as we know.

  1. I can’t say this too many times, thanks to all members of the various Fire Departments lending assistance to Wintergreen.

I hesitate to mention just one department because I don’t want to minimize the contributions by all departments, however I would be remiss not to shine light on the excellent working relationship we have with the Rockfish Valley Volunteer Fire Department.
