…FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT UNTIL 3 AM EST THURSDAY…
THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN STERLING VIRGINIA HAS ISSUED A
* FLOOD WATCH FOR LOCATIONS ALONG AND WEST OF THE BLUE RIDGE
MOUNTAINS AND ALSO ACROSS PORTIONS OF CENTRAL VIRGINIA.
* UNTIL 3 AM EST THURSDAY
* WIDESPREAD MODERATE TO LOCALLY HEAVY RAIN AND ISOLATED
THUNDERSTORMS WILL MOVE THROUGH LOCATIONS ALONG AND WEST OF THE
BLUE RIDGE MOUNTAINS AS WELL AS CENTRAL VIRGINIA THIS EVENING.
ADDITIONAL RAINFALL AMOUNTS AROUND ONE INCH ARE EXPECTED.
HOWEVER…ISOLATED AMOUNTS UP TO TWO INCHES ARE POSSIBLE IN
HEAVIER BANDS OF RAINFALL AND ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS.
RAINFALL WILL TAPER OFF LATE THIS EVENING INTO THE OVERNIGHT.
ADDITIONAL RUNOFF IN SMALL STREAMS AND CREEKS MAY CONTINUE
THROUGH LATE TONIGHT.

A FLOOD WATCH MEANS THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR FLOODING BASED ON
CURRENT FORECASTS.
YOU SHOULD MONITOR LATER FORECASTS AND BE ALERT FOR POSSIBLE
FLOOD WARNINGS. THOSE LIVING IN AREAS PRONE TO FLOODING SHOULD BE
PREPARED TO TAKE ACTION SHOULD FLOODING DEVELOP.
