It’s here. Tough Mudder, Virginia is happening this weekend at Wintergreen Resort. Yes, you read the caption in Paul’s picture above correctly. 14,000 plus participants will compete in the two day event that runs through Sunday afternoon. That figure does not include friends, spectators, etc.

NCL Publisher, Yvette Stafford, coordinated Team Nelson, a group of 22 participants that will be competing in the event st 8AM Saturday morning. Most of them have been training for the past year or longer for the event.

NCL forecaster, Tommy Stafford says the weather be nice and generally sunny for both days, but the mornings up at Wintergreen will start off cold. “We’re talking temperatures between 32-36° around sunrise on Saturday and maybe even a bit colder on Sunday morning. The one saving grace might be some partly cloudy skies moving through that would keep temps up a few degrees. Regardless, it will be cold until later in the morning when sunshine heats things up into the lower 50’s with a SW wind of 5-15 MPH in the mountains.”

We will be updating the event and Team Nelson’s progress on our Facebook page here, and also via our Twitter feed. That’s the way to see the absolute latest updates. Of course we’ll have a huge update later in the day here on NCL. Photographers Paul Purpura and Hayley Osborne are covering it all!

Go Team Nelson!
