Nelson County Sheriff David Brooks says his department continues their investigation into the events surrounding an early morning shooting of of a Cub Creek Road man. “He showed up at J & K Market early Monday morning with what appeared to be a possible gunshot,” Sheriff Brooks tells NCL. It was unclear at first if the person had been shot or simply beat up. “His left eye was swollen shut and we couldn’t determine is he’d been shot until an exam was performed at UVA. He was unable to answer any questions from officers due to the injury. Doctors there tell us he was shot in the left eye with the bullet lodged in the skull behind the eye, Sheriff Brooks continued.

Deputies have spent the better part of Monday trying to figure out where the exact location of the shooting was. During the afternoon they began searching the person’s home on Cub Creek Rd to see if they could determine anything about the shooting.

Sheriff Brooks is asking anyone that might have information on what happened to contact them at this toll free number: 877 570 8477
