VDOT FY12-17 SECONDARY SIX YEAR PLAN/FY12 SECONDARY ROAD CONSTRUCTION:
Mr. Randy Hamilton with VDOT presented a draft plan showing limited funding for traffic services, minor surveying and preliminary engineering and some funding for the following projects:
1. River Road Rt. 6 – left turn lane for Rt. 634E (Old Roberts Mountain Road);
2. Irish Road Rt. 6 – turn lane for Rt. 639;
3. Pigeon Hill Road (Rt. 681) – Rural Rustic project;
4. W. Powells Island (Rt.662) – Rural Rustic project;
5. Eades Lane (Rt. 641) – Rural Rustic project
Supervisors voted unanimously to adopt a resolution adopting the plan as presented.
COUNTY ATTORNEY COMPENSATION: Supervisors unanimously adopted a resolution establishing the County Attorney’s compensation for services rendered at $180 per hour, effective July 1, 2011 through the end of the calendar year.
BROADBAND INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECT: Mr. Carter reviewed the Broadband Committee’s recommendations with three different project options and the costs involved in each. He reported that staff expects to have approximately $500,000 in additional unobligated funds in the General Fund at the end of the fiscal year, as well as approximately $1,000,000 in unobligated funds in the Capital Fund. After discussion, Supervisors voted unanimously to approve option 5A which includes all underground installation, 144 fiber count and 2 ½” conduit at a total estimated cost of $3,173,205.
CLOSED SESSION: Supervisors met in Closed Session to consult with legal counsel.
GLADSTONE RESCUE SQUAD: Supervisors voted unanimously on a resolution noting the Board of Supervisors’ demand on June 14, 2011 that Gladstone Rescue Squad produce certain documents and noting that those documents had not been delivered. The resolution orders Gladstone Rescue Squad to deliver certain documents (including but not limited to check registers, bank statements, etc.) dated January 1, 2006 through the delivery date no later than 4:00pm on June 30, 2011. The resolution states that if Gladstone Rescue Squad fails to honor the request for documents, the Board of Supervisors will immediately dissolve Gladstone Rescue Squad. Staff will have certified copies of the resolution delivered to the President, Treasurer and Captain of the Gladstone Rescue Squad.
Meeting continued to Thursday, June 30th at 5:00pm to act on the Gladstone Rescue Squad resolution if needed.
