Temperatures have dropped into the 80s…and will continue to fall

ISSUED A HEAT ADVISORY…WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM NOON TO 8 PM EDT
WEDNESDAY. A HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EDT THIS
EVENING.

* TEMPERATURES…HIGHS IN THE MID 90S THIS AFTERNOON AND WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON.

* HEAT INDEX VALUES…100 TO 105 BOTH AFTERNOONS.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A HEAT ADVISORY MEANS THAT A PERIOD OF EXCESSIVE HEAT IS
EXPECTED. THE COMBINATION OF TEMPERATURES IN THE MID TO UPPER 90S
AND HIGH HUMIDITY WILL CREATE A SITUATION IN WHICH HEAT ILLNESSES
ARE POSSIBLE. THE ELDERLY…YOUNG CHILDREN AND PETS ARE MOST AT
RISK. CHECK UP ON RELATIVES AND NEIGHBORS.

THE MOST IMPORTANT THING TO REMEMBER IS TO DRINK PLENTY OF
FLUIDS. WATER AND SPORTS DRINKS ARE THE BEST CHOICES. IF YOU MUST
BE OUTSIDE…TAKE FREQUENT BREAKS IN THE SHADE DURING THE
AFTERNOON SUN. SPEND TIME IN AN AIR CONDITIONED ROOM DURING THE
HOTTEST PART OF THE DAY. NEVER LEAVE CHILDREN OR PETS IN A CAR…
TEMPERATURES INSIDE THE VEHICLE CAN EXCEED 130 DEGREES IN A
MATTER OF MINUTES.
