Nelson County, Virginia

If you live in the valley portions of Nelson County you’d have a very hard time believing that about 10 inches of snow fell Wednesday and Wednesday night in the county. Take trip up to Wintergreen and it’s a whole different story. NCL’s Mountain Photographer, Paul Purpura, got out Thursday and grabbed a few quick shots there. When we were up there, just before noon Thursday crews were busy clearing sidewalks from all of the snow. But the roads are in fine shape!

Crews were busy Thursday morning clearing snow from the area surrounding condos and the Mountain Inn.

The precipitation started as freezing rain Wednesday morning, but changed to all snow by afternoon and evening.
Before the mid-week snow fell, Wintergreen Resort has already been experiencing a banner year for skiing. The addiitional 8-10 inches of powder will make for a perfect weekend of skiing and boarding.

Depending on what part of the mountain you were on, determind how much snow you saw. Eastern slopes had less, western slopes much more.

Light snow showers are possible overnight Thursday into Friday morning, with more significant snow possible again by next week.
