NCL can confirm that Nelson rescue and law enforcement have been working another accident involving a hunter that was accidentally shot with a rifle. “We received a call to assist Nelson Rescue squads with the rescue off of Davis Creek Road north of Lovingston,” Wintergreen Fire & Rescue Chief, Curtis Sheets told us after NCL called to confirm the incident.

“The person that was shot is from Virginia Beach, VA. His friend from South Boston shot him accidentally when he moved in the line of fire,” Nelson County Sheriff, David Brooks, tells NCL late Thursday evening. The accident occurred on Perry Lane just off of Davis Creek.

The hunter was shot in the upper leg / groin area and was flown out by Pegasus helicopter to UVa.

This is the second hunting accident in Nelson County within the past month. 7 year old Connor Craig of Shipman tragically died after being shot in a Thanksgiving Weekend hunting accident.

The VA Department of Inland Game & Fisheries will followup the investigation.
