Roseland / Massies Mill
Nelson County, Virginia
We’ve been following the progress of David Bernard and his Madhops in Massies Mill. He was in our July 2010 printed issue.
The fruits of his labor came true this past Sunday at Devils Backbone as they unveiled the Blue Ridge Hop Revival, a wet hops beer made with 100% Nelson hops.”It’s a very hoppy harvest brown ale that’s celebrates Virginia’s first commercial hop transaction in well over a hundred years. It’s brewed with 100% Nelson County grown hops that were hand picked and used within a day of picking.” says Jason Oliver, Head Brewmaster at DBBC.
“Most beers use dry hops. They store better. That’s why you can use them year round. These wet hops beers are used within a day or two of picking. It’s almost like cooking with fresh spices as opposed to dry spices,” Jason continued.
Sounds yummy!
Congrats David!
