…ENHANCED WILDFIRE THREAT THIS AFTERNOON…

WESTERLY WINDS WILL INCREASE EARLY THIS AFTERNOON TO 15 TO 25 MPH.
FUEL MOISTURE REMAINS LOW DUE TO SEVERE DROUGHT OVER THE CENTRAL
PIEDMONT OF VIRGINIA AND THE SHENANDOAH VALLEY. RELATIVE HUMIDITY
LEVELS WILL DECREASE TO 30 TO 35 PERCENT DURING THE AFTERNOON
HOURS. THE COMBINATION OF LOW FUEL MOISTURE, GUSTY WINDS AND
RELATIVELY DRY AIR WILL POSE AN ENHANCED THREAT FOR WILDFIRES
THIS AFTERNOON. WINDS ARE FORECAST TO DECREASE RAPIDLY AROUND DUSK.

OPEN BURNING IS STRONGLY DISCOURAGED TODAY.
