Nelson County, Virginia
Hard to believe, but it’s here. The unofficial end to summer is this weekend. Labor Day informally marks the end to summer, though it’s not official until September 22nd when fall begins. Here in Nelson we will get a prelude to fall on Saturday behind a cold front that will move through. Afternoon highs on Saturday will struggle to make it to 80° for daytime highs. Some locations will reach the upper 40’s for overnight lows this weekend!
Hurricane Earl more or less has not affected our weather in Nelson and nearby, but we did see clouds increase during the afternoon hours Thursday as the outer cloud bands moved by. Paul Purpura grabbed the shot in this post, and Sandy Etchison of Rodes Farm got a nice one too. You can see her photo over in Tommy’s Weather by clicking here. We’ll see the last remaining clouds from Earl Friday morning along with some isolated sprinkles or showers (mainly east of Nelson) before he heads off NE of the area with mostly sunny skies returning by roughly the noon hour.
The nice weather continues through the Labor Day weekend and beyond. The next 7 days look dry and seasonal after a hot Friday!
Plenty of things are going on all over Nelson this weekend. Just scroll down and look under Datebook Events to see a listing of them. It will be a fantastic weekend to get out and enjoy!
