A benefit for the Monticello Area Community Action Agency (MACAA), will be held on Monday, September 20, 2010 at Birdwood Golf Course at The Boar’s Head. The area’s women golfers will again have the opportunity to compete in a top-notch tournament known for its excellent golf, team prizes, on-course contests, raffles and goody bags. Ms. Dee O’Donnell, Wachovia Senior Vice President and Regional President Western Virginia is the honorary chair and speaker.
Founded in 1965, MACAA’s mission has always been to help people out of poverty. MACAA does this through a variety of programs and initiatives: Hope House, an apartment building for homeless families provides case management that builds strong, independent families; Family Economic Security builds a path out of poverty; CARES provides emergency help for Charlottesville and Albemarle residents; Rural Outreach provides emergency help to Fluvanna, Louisa and Nelson County families; Head Start provides pre-school for low-income children in Charlottesville and Albemarle, Fluvanna, Louisa and Nelson Counties; Project Discovery helps low-income high school students in Charlottesville and Albemarle, Fluvanna and Nelson Counties become the first in their families to go to college.
Funds raised by WOMEN WHO GOLF go to support MACAA programs. It is only with the help of area individuals, corporations and foundations, that MACAA can meet its funding needs and fulfill its mission. Please call MACAA if you would like to help. Call Candace Goodyear at 434.295.3171 ex. 3045 or email Candace@macaa.org for more information or a registration form.
