If you ever wondered what farming looked liked decades ago, even back to the 1800’s you still have the chance! Saunders Brothers in Piney River is showing off a display of early Americana farm equipment through August 14th. The event has been designated by the Blue Ridge Parkway as an official event of the Blue Ridge Parkway’s 75th Anniversary in 2010.
Many other items on display include: peanut planter, cotton planter, one horse drill, dog tread mill, buggy plow, stalk cutter, early incubator, plows, and cultivators.
In addition, there will be a large display of antique tractors and steam engines.
The event will be held at Saunders Brothers Farm Market on Rt 56 and 2.5 miles west of Rt 29. The event is open to the public and there is no charge for admission. Hours of operation are 9am-5pm Monday through Saturday.
