Wintergreen Resort
Nelson County, Virginia
Though hot, the weather was perfect for the 2010 fireworks display for this 4th of July at Wintergreen Resort. Thousands made their way to the top of the mountain to get the perfect spot to watch the spectacular display unfold around 9PM Sunday night. See you at next year’s 4th of July celebrations!
My daughters drove up to Wintergreen to watch the fireworks only to be turned away at the gate and told that no one else was allowed up. They were instructed to go on up to the parkway for a good view. They preceeded up and joined many others in an open area to await the show. When the show started, the fireworks could not be seen from this vantage point, and the disappointed crowd dispersed. All this after one of my daughters had called Wintergreen to make sure non member/residents could go up the mountain to watch. I’d like to hear an explanation on how Wintergreen determines when there are too many cars/people in the resort and, for next year, how early one must get there to secure admittance to the fireworks.
“Preceeded” in my previous comment should read “proceeded”.
