Nelson County, Virginia
Tuesday was a muggy and mostly cloudy day with high temps reaching the lower and middle 80’s. Thunderstorms started forming late in the afternoon and moved through western and southern Nelson County. The storms caused a brief power outage up on the mountain at Wintergreen with a little more than 900 people without power. CVEC quickly got the lights back on.
More numerous thunderstorms will occur Wednesday with some of those possibly reaching strong to severe limits. Localized flooding is possible. Once this area of storms pushes to the east overnight Wednesday into Thursday morning, we will be left with sunny skies and increasingly hot temps right on through the weekend. Highs will be near 90° or into the lower 90’s throughout the entire extended forecast with minimal chances for afternoon summertime thunderstorms.
