Nelson County, Virginia
Around 3-5 inches of snow fell overnight in Nelson County, Virginia. No new story there, it’s one of many snows this winter season. But people in Nelson awoke to very gusty winds blowing the snow all over the place. Ann Strober of Nellysford grabbed this shot Wednesday morning of the wind driven snow.
Numerous accidents occurred across the county Wednesday morning and black ice was a huge problem on many roads. Trees blown down by the high winds also blocked some roads temporarily.
As of 9:30 Wednesday morning a Winter Storm Warning was still in effect for Nelson County until 4PM, but with abundant sunshine out now, that warning will most certainly be canceled early. However, expect very gusty winds to continue right into tonight. High Wind Warnings were already posted for counties as close as Amherst.
