Nelson County, Virginia
It’s getting like an old record, but what appears to be another massive snow is on the way to Nelson and much of Central Virginia. A Winter Storm Watch has been issued that begins Friday morning and continues at least until Saturday evening. This watch has been upgraded to a warning as of 10:30 AM Thursday.
Nelson County Public Schools are closed again Thursday and will almost certainly be closed Friday as well. That would mean students have had this entire week off due to snow.
While it is very difficult to know exact snowfall potential right now, it does appear this storm is consistent with the one we saw back on December 18 & 19th. Predictions of between 12 to 20 inches in the Nelson area have been discussed by The National Weather Service. Lower amounts, but the threat of ice will be a problem to the south of Nelson. A brief period of icing may occur here as well. It would be a very good idea to get any necessary errands done on Thursday, as Friday will become less and less attractive to travel as the day wears on.
