Conditions are slowly improving across Nelson County. On Monday many roads showed blacktop for the first time since Friday night. Yesterday, all non-essential / non-emergency government offices were closed. Most locations in Nelson had little or no mail service either.
Tuesday those offices will slowly reopen on a delayed schedule.
Nelson’s EMS Director, Ray Uttaro said “Nelson County Government offices, will be open at 10:30AM Tues, Collection sites & Transfer Station also open @ 10:30, all collection sites close at 4:30 PM. Most roads have been plowed though not 100% clear. The National Guard was cleared @ 12:30 today. Nelson still in a local emergency – willl stay in effect until sure all citizens out of any danger.”
Another winter storm may affect the area as early as Christmas Eve night.
