A WINTER STORM WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM TUESDAY EVENING
THROUGH WEDNESDAY MORNING.
PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN TUESDAY AFTERNOON ACROSS THE
POTOMAC HIGHLANDS AND CENTRAL SHENANDOAH VALLEY AS A PERIOD OF
SNOW…MOVING NORTH TO THE PENNSYLVANIA BORDER EARLY TUESDAY
EVENING. PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED MIX WITH SLEET…BECOME HEAVIER
TUESDAY EVENING AND THEN CHANGE TO RAIN. HOWEVER TEMPERATURES AT
THE SURFACE WILL STAY BELOW FREEZING…SO RAIN THAT FALLS WILL
FREEZE ON IMPACT. FREEZING RAIN IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE THROUGHOUT
TUESDAY NIGHT BEFORE WARMER AIR MOVES IN WEDNESDAY MORNING.
ONE QUARTER INCH OF ICE ACCUMULATION IS POSSIBLE. THE MOST LIKELY
PLACE TO RECEIVE THIS AMOUNT WOULD BE IN THE COLDER LOW LYING
AREAS OF THE SHENANDOAH VALLEY AND POTOMAC AND ALLEGHENY
HIGHLANDS.
A WINTER STORM WATCH MEANS THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR SIGNIFICANT
SNOW…SLEET…OR ICE ACCUMULATIONS THAT MAY IMPACT TRAVEL.
CONTINUE TO MONITOR THE LATEST FORECASTS.
