The annual Lovingston Christmas parade will be held this weekend. This year’s Nelson County Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade is scheduled for Sunday, December 6, 2009 at 3:00 PM.

The 2009 parade theme is “A Beary Special Christmas.”

This year’s Grand Marshall is BJ Cabbell. BJ played football at NCHS and graduated in 2006.  He currently plays for UVA and will graduate in 2010.  He is the son of Bobby and June Cabbell.

There will be street vendors with food and beverages.

Ribbons will be awarded in the following categories:
Best Theme Float
Most Entertaining Float
Best Formation Marching Unit
Most Entertaining Marching Unit
Best of Show Horse & Rider
Best of Show Classic Antique Vehicle (1980 and older)
Best of Show Modified Antique Vehicle (1980 and older)
Best of Show Fire Unit
Best of Show Rescue Unit
Judges Choice Award

  1. Hooray for BJ! It’s about time we give this home town hero some recognition. BJ’s done a great job at UVA…did you see him last Saturday knocking Tech defensemen around like their legs were made of wood. If UVA had three more offensive linemen like BJ, they probably wouldn’t have had such a bad year. Look out NFL! Here come a Nelson County native who doesn’t back down from anyone.
