Nelson County, Virginia
Though spotty showers have been about the area in the past week, moisture is in rare supply right now. Couple that with winds of 45 MPH on Wednesday and you have the perfect recipe for brush and forest fires across portions of Central Virginia.
Low humidity levels with very little rain lately have increased the fire threat. Late Wednesday afternoon a significant forest fire started on Horseshoe Mountain in Southern Nelson County. That fire was under control just before dark.
Rain chances are on the increase Friday night into Saturday, but not before gusty winds return again on Friday.
