Congrats to Ryan Wender of Afton. He won raffle to the U2 concert. The drawing was held on Sunday. He’s going to have a great time, these are fantastic seats!
Tim tells us Ryan and his son are developing skaters. Perfect!
Congrats again!

As we have been telling you over the past several weeks, SkateNelson recently opened the first phase of their skatepark at The Rockfish Valley Community Center here in Nelson County. Phase One was nearly financed 100% by private donations. The second phase of fund raising is underway now with a special potential treat a donor between now and September 20th. “We’ve placed about half of the thirty tickets offered. The drawing will be next Sunday, 9/20/09, as the concert is on Oct. 1… people need to make plans,” says Tim Gorman, organizer of SkateNelson Nelson who is coordinating the construction of Nelson’s first skatepark at RVCC. The tickets were donated by area real estate broker, Bob Hughes of www.bobhughesteam.com
U2 will be in Charlottesville on Thursday October 1st at 7PM.
SkateNelson.org is raffling off 30 chances to win a pair of great U2 concert tickets (retail value $550). Contributors to SkateNelson will receive one chance for the pair of tickets for each $50 they donate. Again, there is a limit of 30 chances so everyone’s odds are good! The tickets are for the October 1, 2009 concert at Scott Stadium in Charlottesville. The drawing will be no later than 9/20/09 or as soon as all the chances are claimed.
“This is the initial fundraiser for Phase 2 of the SkateNelson.org skatepark plan at The Rockfish Valley Community Center. If you haven’t seen Phase 1 yet, our beautiful new ramp is fast, smooth, and ready to ride. Phase 2 will be a multi-use “plaza” style skate area, all suitable for skating, plus other recreation that requires a hard, smooth surface like basketball, street hockey, biking, etc,” Tim continues.
If you’d like to help the fundraiser and get a chance to win U2 tickets contact Tim Gorman: 540-456-6425 or: timo@ntelos.net
This is all just so awesome! I would have preferred the story to end with me winning the raffle but I realize this is the first raffle I have ever really believed was for a super great cause. It took someone like Bob Hughes to come up with a great prize – which really isn’t that surprising. 🙂
Have a great time at the show!!!
