It’s official! Democracy Vineyards joins the list of other fantastic vineyards and wineries here in Nelson County. They celebrated their opening at The Lovingston Opry Friday night. They celebration continues this weekend with a festival at the vineyard on Saturday August 29 from 11 am to 3 pm. The festival will be followed by a vineyard blessing at 4 p.m. The vineyard is located on Rt. 718, off of Rt. 29, just north of Lovingston.

Jim Turpin and Susan Prokop kicked off their opening with Democracy Vineyards’ white blend – Declaration – and red blend – Velvet Revolution.

Saturday’s celebration at the vineyard will also include hot dogs and hamburgers will also be available for purchase from the Nelson Ruritans. Friday wine tasting fee – $5/pp. Saturday festival fee – $10/pp; under 21/free.
