Hundreds packed inside The Evans Center at Wintergreen Resort this past weekend for the 4th Annual Blue Ridge Mountain Music Festival. The overflow crowd spilled out to the mountainside near the tent to get a listen. The day long event put on by Wintergreen Performing Arts including several different bands performing bluegrass, some gospel, folk and Americana styles of music.
The New North Carolina Ramblers take the stage at the festival. Anchestors of the original group go back to the early part of last century. By afternoon there were no indoor seats left at the foot stompin' festival!Nelson County Life Magazine's, Tommy Stafford, emceed the festival that included an arts and crafts fair along with the live entertainment.The highly popular Deer Creek Boys were back for the second year in a row, also getting the crowd on their feet for a round of applause.The McKenzies with Kim & Jimbo Cary rounded out the day long event. They also participated in jamming and breakout sessions throughout the afternoon.Jimbo Cary, who also helped organize the 2009 festival, does a little picking for the audience. Though not his usual instrument, Cason Ogden, with The Deer Creek Boys plays the electric bass at Saturday's festival.Lead Singer, Mike Andes (left) and Tony Shorter on bass of Nothin' Fancy, entertain the crowd with their lively act.
