Beech Grove/Wintergreen
Nelson County, Virginia
The day was absolutely gorgeous as Wintergreen Winery celebrated 16 years in business here in Nelson County, Virginia. Temperatures hovered in the low and mid 90’s all afternoon. Kids got the chance to play in the Rockfish River that borders the winery property while their parents enjoyed some of the latest wines.
“We’ve done a lot of work since those early days after we bought the winery 10 years ago,” says co-owner and winemaker, Jeff Stone. He and wife Tamara bought the now 16 year old winery a decade ago and have been constantly improving the grounds ever since. “When Tam and I first got here there was no bank along the river where people could easily enjoy a stroll or just sitting on the rocks and dipping your feet in on a hot day. We’ve worked hard to make it a beautiful part of the total experience here at Wintergreen Winery,” Jeff continues.
Jeff & Tam purchased the winery from then owners, Mike and Kathy Riddick. Since then a new event facility has been added. Recently RHOP held it’s Spring Garden Party Fundraiser there. The newest addition to the winery property will be totally finished later this year.
Happy Anniversary Wintergreen Winery and here’s to 16 more!!
Jeff & Tam – Congrats on your 16th birthday! Debbie and I wish we were able to come up and visit but we got the gambling itch and headed to Atlantic City. Hope to see you soon and we continue to enjoy your wonderful wine!
