Though the days of winter, really, really cold weather, and snow are all on borrowed time, folks up at Wintergreen Resort proved there’s still time to have some fun before spring kicks into full gear in a few weeks. Our Mountain Photographer, Paul Purpura, grabbed these shots of the Sled Race and Chili Contest this week.

The Parking division at Wintergreen won the fastest time in the sledding competition.

Several departments from the resort entered this year’s different competitions including; Lift Operations, Tree House, Mountain Operations, Human Resources, Hospitality, Snow Sports, Equipment Rental, and Parking.

Paul tells us the winners in the chili contest include:
Mary-1st place
Buster-2nd place
Steve-3rd place
Rudy-4th place

The event is one of several held each year as the resort prepares to shift from winter into spring and summer operations in the coming weeks,

  1. Mea culpa dear readers, I did not get the last names of most of the people who won the chili contest, but because I have some friends up here, I was fianlly able to do so.

    Here are the results of the chili contest:

    1st Place – Mary Santomieri
    2nd Place – Buster Saunders
    3rd Place – Steve Wilson
    4th Place – Rudy Strickland
