Nelson County, Virginia
Monday 3.2.09 7AM

As predicted a potent winter storm system moved into the area last night. While areas west of I-95 had the lesser amounts around 3-5 inches, locations to the east got a little more. Here at NCL in the Rockfish Valley we got around 3 inches by daylight Monday.

Winter Storm Warnings and advisories continues through mid afternoon across Central Virginia.

A mixed bag of Winter Storm Warnings and advisories continue across the area through mid-afternoon. I’d look for them to all be canceled before then or certainly allowed to expire. Another brief round of snow can be expected before the noon hour today with some locations picking up another 1-2 inches before the snow tapers off by early afternoon. Partly sunny skies will return by this afternoon, with brutally cold temperatures settling in overnight. Believe it or not, we’ll be ithe mid 60’s by the next weekend.

A complete wrap up over in Tommy’s Weather tonight.

  1. There was a lot of drifting overnight here on Wintergreen Mountain so snow depths vary, but the ruler-in-the-driveway report shows 10+” of fairly fluffy snow. Skies are brightening and fog is gone. Should be an A+ ski day …
