Nelson County, Virginia
A Winter Weather Advisory continues in effect for Nelson and some surrounding counties, mainly north and west. As of 9 AM EST some sleet had been falling in the Rockfish Valley, with some weather related traffic accidents occurring on US 29 in the eastern part of the county.
On the mountain at Wintergreen John Taylor from over on Devil’s Knob reports: “Here on top of Wintergreen Mountain (3300′ – approximately the same altitude as the Mountain Inn), it’s 28 degrees with a wintry mix (sleet, freezing rain). Cars, decks and untreated driveway coated with a thin layer of ice. Tricky walking. Fog – visibility about 300′.”
Nelson County Public Schools that were originally on a 2 hour delay schedule were later closed just after 8:00 AM this morning.
Look for the wintry precipitation to eventually change to all rain by this afternoon.
SORRY THAT YOU HAVE NOT ACCEPTED MY COMMENTS
Hey Ed, your original comment has been posted since 8:05 AM this morning. Perhaps you overlooked it? Hope all is well there in CHO. We miss you guys over here in Nelson! See you at the Farmers market this summer?? Best, Tommy
Hey Ed, remember that RVCC still has breakfast on the 1st Sat of each month. You and Betty could eat and catch up on all the local gossip on the way to the Farmers Market.
I like having both the Mountain and Valley weather icons together on the homepage…..a nice addition.
Yea Henri, it’s kind of handy to have both there so you can see what the difference is on top and down below at a glance! Thanks for noticing. -T-
