Nelson County, Virginia
As expected a quick burst of snow showers overnight had folks here in Nelson waking up to a dusting of snow in both the valley and on the mountains. There was just enough snow that it prompted Nelson school officials to put in effect a two hour delay due to some minor travel problems anticipated in the higher elevations. Some area schools were already out in observance of the President’s Day holiday.

The ruler-on-the-jacuzzi-cover measurement shows 1 1/4″ of fluff here on Wintergreen mountain. Still snowing to beat the band but it is not clear whether it is accumulating. Only a wisk broom needed to clear the cars. Roads up here are in excellent shape. Skiing is great and the crowds are light. I’m not sure today was a holiday for everyone. If it brightens up this afternoon (so the light isn’t flat) I suspect the ski experience will be phenomenal!
“It’s awesome to see the snow and the only place that we saw it predicted was on NCL!”
