Nelson County, Virginia

As expected a quick burst of snow showers overnight had folks here in Nelson waking up to a dusting of snow in both the valley and on the mountains. There was just enough snow that it prompted Nelson school officials to put in effect a two hour delay due to some minor travel problems anticipated in the higher elevations. Some area schools were already out in observance of the President’s Day holiday.

Though it was just a tiny bit of snow, our NCL cat, Angelo, seems amused by it! Kitty snow day.

  1. The ruler-on-the-jacuzzi-cover measurement shows 1 1/4″ of fluff here on Wintergreen mountain. Still snowing to beat the band but it is not clear whether it is accumulating. Only a wisk broom needed to clear the cars. Roads up here are in excellent shape. Skiing is great and the crowds are light. I’m not sure today was a holiday for everyone. If it brightens up this afternoon (so the light isn’t flat) I suspect the ski experience will be phenomenal!
