Wintergreen Resort – Nelson County, Virginia
A year that ended with some fairly warm weather led into a New Year 2009 with single digit readings overnight up in the mountains. That was a perfect combination for snow making at Wintergreen Resort.
Our Paul Purpura, who is also a ski instructor on the mountain, said New Years morning was quiet, but by the noon hour the resort was packed with skiers and snowboarders taking to the slopes. Friday was equally as busy. With temperatures predicted to be in the teens overnight for the first half of the weekend, skiing looks fantastic for the first weekend of 2009.
