Wintergreen Resort – Nellysford – Nelson County, Virginia
The day was absolutely perfect, though a tad chilly, for the 1st Annual Nelson County High School Band Golf Tournament. Sindri Linen, manager of Stoney Creek Bar & Grill at Wintergreen Resort, coordinated this year’s event. “We are so excited with the turnout. We had over 60 entries for our very first tournament, how wonderful,” Sindri says. The tournament took place on the Stoney Creek Golf Course at the resort.

Area businesses sponsored holes along the course to help raise money for the band. NCL was one of many glad to pitch in!

Money raised from the tournament will help band boosters with expenses for the band including a trip next year to Florida.

  1. Scott Belcher, Nelson County High School band director, expresses his thanks to all of the people that supported the first annual Marching Governors Golf Tournament. A very special thanks to Sindri Linen who organized the event. Thanks to the band boosters for their help with the event and to the booster men for their help with the band equipment trailer. Thank you students for your continued dedication and for the outstanding performancce at the conclusion of the tournament.
    The band is planning to perform “for the world” at Disney World in Florida in the spring of 2009.
    Proceeds from the golf tournament will be a great help in raising the funds needed to take this trip.
    Mr. Belcher says “Thank you to all of Nelson County for the continued support of the NCHS Fine Arts Deparment”. Finally, thank you “Nelson County Life” for the support and publicity.
