  1. Shop at Whole Foods in Charlottesville* on Wednesday November 12 – and give a “whole lot of help” to the Nelson County Community Fund
Whole Foods, Charlottesville, will donate 5% of its net sales on November 12th to the Nelson County Community Fund as part of the store’s community giving program.

The Nelson County Community Fund is a committee-advised fund in the Charlottesville Area Community Foundation created for the express purpose of providing the most basic human services for our neighbors in need. The fund is led by the Nelson County Advisory Committee (NCAC) which was established to conduct fund raising campaigns and perform the actual grant selection-and-award process for the Fund. Since its inception in 1999, almost $300,000 in grants has been distributed to non-profit organizations benefiting Nelson County residents and visitors. This year, because of the economic downturn and its affect on our neighbors, we are especially appreciative of Whole Foods generosity. Now we all just need to shop until we drop on November 12th.

Whole Foods Market believes in community involvement through volunteer work by its team members, food donations to local food banks and churches and through its 5% Day collaboration.
“At Whole Foods Market Charlottesville, we are active participants in our community. We are proud of our community involvement and the relationships that we continue to make each month! We strive to make a difference. Our Community 5% Days are one meaningful way we give back to our community. On designated days throughout the year a total of 5% of the day’s net sales are donated to local non-profit organizations. Customers help support our selected organizations just by shopping on these 5% Days.”

*Whole Foods is located at 300 Shoppers World Court across from Fashion Square Mall on Route 29 in Charlottesville. It is open on November 12th from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
