WHAT – Kitchen Garden Class – 8 week course, with one field trip to instructor’s garden
WHO
– Taught by Maggie Stemann Thompson – former Head Vegetable Gardener at Monticello; instructor at UVA Continuing Education School; owner of vegetable garden designing, consulting, and maintenance business
WHEN – Mondays, October 13 through December 1, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and again from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
WHERE – Rockfish Valley Community Center
FEES – $140. Must register in advance at maggiesfarm2@juno.com or 540-456-6328. Twelve student minimum.
DESCRIPTION – Learn to grow vegetables from the ground up! This course will teach novices and encourage experienced gardeners to get their soil in terrific shape, encourage helpful insects, and start to grow the food their families needs. The basics of design, planting, and controlling weeds, pests, and varmints will be covered, as well as the growing of most common vegetables.
