The local government of Nelson County will conduct a public information meeting on September 10, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. in the Community Room within the Rockfish Valley Community Center located at 190 Rockfish School Lane, Afton, VA 22920. The purpose of the meeting is to present information and receive public input on The Region 2000 Local Government Council – Regional Water Supply Plan, which is described herein below, including information within the plan that specifically pertains to Nelson County.
The Region 2000 Regional Water Supply Plan is being developed to comply with the State Water Control Board’s regulation 9 VAC 25-780, Local and Regional Water Supply Planning and to produce a functional plan to support sustainable growth and economic development.
The public information meeting will provide for review of current planning effort findings, including discussion of current water supplies and demand, projected water demand over the 50-year planning period, and potential alternatives for additional supplies or additional infrastructure to optimize current water supplies.
A copy of the draft Region 2000 Local Government Council – Regional Water Supply Plan is available for review in the office of the County Administrator at 84 Courthouse Square in Lovingston (Courthouse).
