Don’t forget the Crutchfield Electronics Recycling truck that will be at the RVCC a week from this coming Saturday on September 6th from 9 AM to 3 PM. That’s the same day as the pancake breakfast. For this one day only, Crutchfield is waiving the normal small fee for you to get rid of most any electronics. Nelson County Life, The RVCC & Crutchfield have all teamed up to bring the truck to Nelson for this one special day. They tell me pretty much anything with a corded plug qualifies! Click on the Crutchfield image on the upper left of your screen under the cover photo to learn more.
The second half of the Labor Day weekend turned out nice. Sunday skies remained cloudy for much of the day, but by late afternoon skies cleared and we were left with plenty of sunshine for the last day of August. We ended up with 3.11″ of rain for the month of August here in the gauge at Nelson County Life Magazine in the Rockfish Valley. Our high temperature last month was 99.3° on August 6th and a low of 50.9° on August 12th. Almost all of the rain recorded for the month fell in the last week of August. ON the mountain at NCL-Wintergreen Nature Foundation they ended the month with 3.68″ of rain and a monthly high of 83° on August 16th and a low of 49° on August 27th. Most other stations were right in the same ballpark with their monthly averages as far as valley and mountain temps and rain.
Today will have more sun than yesterday and temps will be seasonal in the mid 80’s for valley highs. The rest of the week looks dry until we get toward Friday when possible rains develop as a result of Hanna churning out in the Atlantic. You can read more about her below.
There’s plenty of tropical activity taking place right now including several new disturbances out in the Atlantic, one that may affect the eastern seaboard by next week. You can see them all by clicking here.
