Thanks to Milly Colella and John Taylor for the beautiful pictures at the top of today’s weather post. John & his wife Nanci, captured a nice double rainbow from the top of the moutain yesterday as thunderstorms moved through. (Our audio portion was already cut by the time John sent this in, but we wanted to use the photo for sure!) Milly shot hers as the sun was rising at the Rockfish Airpark near Spruce Creek. As always, we appreciate the nice photos sent in!
We started the weekend nice and pleasant, but by Sunday afternoon temperatures made it to the lower 90’s in some locations with the humidity on the increase as well. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch was issued for much of the area yesterday with some folks seeing some gusty winds and heavy downpours. Some station across the area received a little touch of rain, but the majority stayed to your north.
Today will feel a little better than Sunday as cooler air works into the area behind the cold front that triggered yesterday’s storms. That will allow less humid air to filter in making for warm pleasant days and mild, sometimes cool nights, particularly in the mountains.
Our next best chance for rain is toward the end of the week. No extremely hot temperatures are in the extended outlook for now.
