NCL has confirmed a major tractor trailer accident that occurred earlier this morning on I-81 Southbound at mile marker #234 not too far from Weyer’s Cave. The accident involved a fiery crash with one person airlifted to UVA Medical Center.

As you can see by clicking on Trafficland.com above at that exit, traffic is slow to progress southbound. Parts of the southbound lane are shutdown due to the accident. NCL has learned the wreckage will be cleaned up later today or tonight as towing crews are able to clear the scene. A hazardous material crew is on site making a routine assessment.
