Homestead-Olivia
Olivia Harris of a.m. Fog Shows Off One of The Homestead Creamery Varieties
Afton, Virginia

Most of you know by now that Yvette and I are expecting a child in the fall of this year. Yea, she’s been drinking the milk lots to keep up the calcium! She’s always liked Homestead Creamery milk. You know, it comes in those classic glass bottles, not far off of the kind the milkman used to deliver in simpler times. Most of the stores around here carried it, then one day she walked in and no more! Gone.

Folks this is one popular brand of milk and it’s the best around. No artificial hormones, and about as close to the cow as it comes! Yea, move over happy steer, we’ve got the happy cow now! As soon as Ken and Yvonne Harris up at a.m. Fog heard about this they jumped all over it! And, yep! They have the whole line of Homestead Creamery milk products in the familiar glass bottles, right there in their market on the Nelson-Albemarle County line on Route 151.

HC-Bottle-1
Nothing’s quite as good as a cold glass of milk from one of those chilled bottles!

And now you can get Homestead Creamery milk just up the road at a.m. Fog. along with all of your vegetables, plants and nursery needs to boot!

You can always visit them on the web at www.amfog.net or call ’em at 540-456-7100

A quick thanks to Heidi Crandall for today’s weather photo from Roseland where our NCL-Hatcreek Farm weather station is located. Heidi grabbed the shot above after the rain fell there Sunday afternoon. They got about .35 inches of rain there as of midnight last night. Thanks for the pics as always!

Also want to throw out a quick hello to Tad Stewart, AKA, Tony Stansbury, down near Savannah, Georgia. He and I actually worked in radio together back about 30 years ago in Tennessee. Guess you could call it radio, our microwave has more power than that little AM station did, but it was a fun! He was a pilot at the time, got me interested in flying and eventually I became a pilot as well. He and I made contact after many years and found out he occasionally listens to us on the web from there in Georgia. Tony joins other out of Nelson daily listeners as far away as New Zealand, Germany, Mexico, Canada, and France…just to mention a few! Thanks for listening Tad…I mean Tony! I’m curious since he lives in Georgia if he knows Paula Deen, ya’ll come! Sure do like her cooking!

We wind up some pretty hot weather from the weekend today as a cold front moves east of the area cooling temps slightly. After a beautiful Saturday with lots of sun and hot temps, Sunday became cloudy later in the day with scattered thunderstorms and showers moving in. More or less, the weekend was perfect for outdoor activities. We covered a few of them that you can take a look at by checking under recent posts to your left under the weather maps.

We may see a lingering shower early in the day Monday with some fog particularly in those areas where rain fell, but look for mostly sunny skies by afternoon with temps generally in the 80’s for the area in the valley.

The rest of the week looks seasonal and dry with afternoon highs in the upper 80’s and nighttime lows in the mid 60’s. No organized rain is in the forecast for the next several days, though this time of year you can never completely rule out those garden variety hit and miss thunderstorms.
