A pyrotechnics coordinator fires off one of the 1000 fireworks sent up over Wintergreen Friday night as part of the resort’s 4th of July Jubilee. Some of the fireworks blasted off to over 1500 feet in the sky.

The 4th of July weekend 2008 is now in the history books, and though thunderstorms moved in out for much of the holiday, not everyone saw rain all at once, so most events went off without a hitch. Sunday, Paul wound up his coverage of this year’s activities at Lake Monocan. They held sand castles contests, the 2nd Annual Wintergreen Family Triathlon, along with crafts and just spending a relaxing afternoon on the last day of the 4th of July holiday.

Thanks Paul for showing us all of the activities at Wintergreen! Here’s to much more summer fun ahead!

Events on the mountain kicked off Friday at Wintergreen Resort with thousands of folks making their way up to check everything out. Our Paul Purpura was on the mountain all day and night. He snapped away at some of what’s taking place, and Paul got some neat behind the scenes pics of the guys setting off the fireworks from the mountain. Looks like a great 4th up there Paul!
