A line of showers and isolated thunderstorms will continue east of the Blue Ridge…and into the Piedmont of northern Virginia and north central Maryland this evening. Much of this line will continue to dissipate from Charlottesville to Leesburg. Isolated thunderstorms are expected to continue to develop across north central Maryland…and the West Virginia Panhandle. Brief heavy rainfall…gusty winds…small hail and cloud to ground lightning expected with the heaviest activity. A tenth of an inch or less is expected across much of this area…with locally higher amounts as the line moves east near 30 mph.

A line of showers and thunderstorms will continue east…into the Interstate 81 corridor of the Shenandoah Valley through the early evening hours. Scattered thunderstorms along this line…from near Staunton to Winchester…with more isolated thunderstorms developing across north central Maryland…will have brief heavy rainfall…gusty winds…small hail and cloud to ground lightning. A tenth to a quarter of an inch is expected across much of this area…with locally higher amounts as the line moves east near 30 mph.
