Out of the chute today want to give a big congratulations to all of the folks involved in putting on the performance of Guys & Dolls for the past 3 days at Nelson County High School. Their fine arts department did a great job and the production was a huge success. Our Hayley Osborne took the shot above there along with the others you can view by clicking on the link just below today’s photo, and look for many more in our March NCL issue out in just a few days.

We’re taking a break this week from area music artists but be watching for more featured musicians in the coming weeks. And be looking for our NCL exclusive web weather sponsor that will begin on this very cast starting over the coming weekend. They’re folks we all know, and they are about to announce an exciting expansion. Details coming this weekend!

Also congrats to NCHS Boys Basketball team. Judy Serkes of Woods Mills e-mailed to say:

They beat Altavista Saturday night to win the Dogwood District Title. Nelson County (24-1) will host a “to-be-determined opponent” at 7 p.m. on Tuesday night at Amherst County High School in the Region B tournament.

Congrats on the win and good luck on the next game!

A relatively uneventful weekend weather wise. We had some light snow overnight in the mountains, barely a dusting, but some, and a few flurries to a trace of rain in the valley, but that was about the extent of it. Both Saturday and Sunday folks on the mountains had a good bit of sunshine while many of us in the valley had low gray clouds and plenty of fog. Some breaks worked in from time to time, but it was kind of gloomy and damp for much of the weekend.

Monday we’ll see some early morning clouds giving way to sunshine as high pressure ever so briefly takes over, only for the clouds and then rain to return overnight into Tuesday. Monday will be a pretty nice day with temps rising to the mid and upper 50’s for valley locations and near 50° on the mountains. If we get enough sunshine early, I think we’ll easily make 60+ degrees. All depends on how long the clouds hold in for the morning hours.

After rain ends sometime Tuesday we’ll begin a drop back to more seasonal temperatures in the low & mid 40’s for valley highs and low 30’s on the mountains. No real weather makers are on the horizon for the coming week after we get the rain out Tuesday evening.

Just a mention for you Spring and Summer lovers , like me, the official start of Spring is now less than a month away beginning on March 20th! Not soon enough for me!
