Monday’s High / Low at NCL-Nelson County Life Magazine in the Rockfish Valley : 38° / 6°
Monday”s High at NCL-Wintergreen Nature Foundation on Devil’s Knob @ Wintergreen Mountain : 24 / 3°

We continue with our look & listen to local Nelson music artists. This week we’ll be hearing tracks from lefty mandolin & guitarist, Jeff Vogelgesang. Yep that would be Jan’s Smith’s hubby. You heard Jan week before last right here. Be sure to check out Jeff’s info below and learn how you can have Jeff and Jan come play at your very own event! Stay tuned to hear today’s cut as we head out of weather.

Monday was a nice sunny day, but the heater never really got plugged in! Temps in the valley never made it out of the 30’s and on the mountains never above freezing. Speaking of, we do have a small issue going on with our Wintergreen Nature Foundation Station. We suspect there is a computer network issue at the foundation office preventing our data from getting to the internet. It is now working.

Tuesday brings a mix of wintry precipitation throughout the day as a front works into the area with moisture breaking out ahead of it. This system doesn’t look overly impressive, but with the extreme freeze we’ve recently had it won’t take much to create a few driving problems. We’ll probably start the day with some snow showers, with a change to freezing rain and sleet in the afternoon as temps warm slightly. We may see an entire change over to rain if the temps rise just enough. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for most of the day Tuesday. CANCELED Look for most of the precipitation to come to an end by midnight Tuesday night with clearing skies moving in and a reinforcing shot of cold air by Wednesday.

We might see some scattered snow showers Thursday but nothing to write home over. The remainder of the week looks partly to mostly sunny, but temps continue to be cold. We begin to make it near 50° by Monday with another chance of rain beginning the night before.

Also be sure to check out any of the latest entries on our site by looking to your left under recent posts. We always have lots of neat stuff up there including recent news, restaurant specials, happenings at the local wineries and brewery, just to mention a few!
