A WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL MIDNIGHT EST
TONIGHT.

AN AREA OF LOW PRESSURE OVER THE NORTHEASTERN GULF OF MEXICO WILL
MOVE NORTHEAST TO NEAR CAPE HATTERAS BY LATE THIS AFTERNOON…AND
THEN UP THE EASTERN SEABOARD TONIGHT. WELL AHEAD OF THIS SYSTEM
PRECIPITATION WILL SPREAD INTO CENTRAL VIRGINIA AROUND DAWN AND
CONTINUE THROUGH THE DAY BEFORE TAPERING OFF THIS EVENING.

PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED TO REMAIN SNOW THROUGH MUCH OF THE
DAY…BEFORE MIXING WITH AND THEN CHANGING TO SLEET AND FREEZING
RAIN LATE THIS AFTERNOON AND THIS EVENING. AS THE PRECIPITATION
TAPERS OFF…A LIGHT FREEZING DRIZZLE WILL BE POSSIBLE.

THREE TO SIX INCHES OF SNOW WILL BE POSSIBLE ACROSS CENTRAL
VIRGINIA…WITH SLIGHTLY HIGHER AMOUNTS ACROSS THE BLUE RIDGE.
ICE ACCUMULATIONS UP TO ONE QUARTER OF AN INCH WILL ALSO BE
POSSIBLE…MAINLY IN THE EVENING HOURS.

TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED TO REMAIN BELOW FREEZING TONIGHT… SO
HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS COULD PERSIST AFTER THE
PRECIPITATION ENDS.

A WINTER STORM WARNING MEANS SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF SNOW… AND
ICE ARE EXPECTED OR OCCURRING. THIS WILL MAKE TRAVEL VERY
HAZARDOUS OR IMPOSSIBLE.
