Updated 4 PM EST : The threat for severe weather in the Nelson County area has decreased. Expect gusty WNW winds behind a cold front moving through the area. Gusts as high as 35-40 MPH can be expected.

We continue to monitor an approaching cold front that may trigger some strong to severe thunderstorms in our area this afternoon and evening. The NWS details are listed below: I will update with any watches or warnings.

A STRONG COLD FRONT WILL CROSS THE MID ATLANTIC TODAY. STRONG
WINDS WILL PRECEDE AND IMMEDIATELY FOLLOW THE FRONTAL
PASSAGE…ESPECIALLY OVER NORTHERN MARYLAND. A WIND ADVISORY IS IN
EFFECT THROUGH 10 PM. FOR AREAS SOUTH…WIND GUSTS TO 40 MPH WILL
BE LIKELY. IN ADDITION…ANY THUNDERSTORMS THAT DEVELOP ALONG THE
FRONT WILL ALSO BE CAPABLE OF PRODUCING DAMAGING WIND GUSTS.

A WIND ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 PM EST THIS EVENING.

A STRONG COLD FRONT WILL CROSS THE MID ATLANTIC TODAY. STRONG TO
POTENTIALLY DAMAGING WIND GUSTS MAY IMMEDIATELY PRECEDE AND
FOLLOW THE PASSAGE OF THIS FRONTAL BOUNDARY. WIND SPEEDS OF
50 MPH ARE POSSIBLE…ESPECIALLY IN THE HIGHER TERRAIN. ANY
SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS THAT ACCOMPANY THE FRONT WILL ALSO HAVE
THE POTENTIAL TO PRODUCE DAMAGING WIND GUSTS. SEVERAL HOURS OF
GUSTY WINDS BEHIND THE FRONT ARE ALSO ANTICIPATED. WINDS ARE
EXPECTED TO DIMINISH BELOW ADVISORY CRITERIA OVERNIGHT.

A WIND ADVISORY MEANS THAT WINDS OF UP TO 50 MPH ARE EXPECTED.
WINDS THIS STRONG CAN MAKE DRIVING DIFFICULT…ESPECIALLY FOR
HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES. USE EXTRA CAUTION.
THERE IS A RISK OF ISOLATED SHORT-LIVED TORNAODES WITHIN THE LINE
OF THUNDERSTORMS…ESPECIALLY EAST OF INTERSTATE 95 AND ACROSS
LOWER SOUTEHRN MARYLAND BETWEEN 3 AND 7 PM.

A GALE WARNING IS IN EFFECT FOR THE TIDAL POTOMAC AND MARYLAND
PORTION OF THE CHESAPEAKE BAY THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING.

WITH AN EAST TO SOUTHEAST FLOW AND FULL MOON…WATER LEVELS WILL INCREASE
TO 1 TO 2 FEET ABOVE NORMAL THROUGH THIS EVENING. THESE ANOMALIES MAY
LEAD TO MINOR TIDAL FLOODING IN AREAS ADJACENT TO THE TIDAL
POTOMAC AND CHESAPEAKE BAY DURING TIMES OF HIGH TIDE THROUGH
SUNDAY EVENING.

SMALL CRAFT CONDITIONS MAY PERSIST ON THE TIDAL POTOMAC AND
