Nelson County, Virginia – Sunset
Thanks again to Judy Serkes our resident photographer in the Woods Mill area that sent us the beautiful picture above. I think this is a sunset from that area. A hot one as she described it! Wednesday was another hot day with many 90’s across the area. Some areas even saw a little shower as daytime heating produced those garden variety afternoon & evening thunderstorms. But unfortunately most areas remained dry. Today our chances for rain increase and become better later in the afternoon into tonight. By Friday the cold front bringing us the chance for showers moves east and cooler high pressure builds in just in time for the weekend. I am not overly impressed with the possible rain amounts at this point. I can’t rule out some severe storms with this system especially if we get plenty of early morning sun, but there just doesn’t seem to be much punch to this one, but anything is certainly better than nothing! Be looking for temps in the 70’s by the weekend.
Still watching Tropical Storm Karen out in the Atlantic. She has managed to get some winds as high as 70 MPH from time to time, but is now encountering that nasty wind shear we talked about on Wednesday. Like I said then she’ll have to withstand some pretty intense wind shear before much else can happen. Several other areas of disturbed weather you can check out by clicking here. Again not a threat anytime soon, but we’ll be watching.
