Romp, Stomp, & Chomp @ Wintergreen Winery
Beech Grove : Wintergreen, Virginia
Did you hear it Monday night. Yea, it’s kind of the unofficial end of summer. Labor Day is generally the last celebration of summer as we begin thinking of cooler fall like days ahead. However ….. I don’t think you’ll be thinking of fall just yet. We have several weeks of warm weather left and the official start of fall isn’t until later this month on September 23rd.
Labor Day 2007 is now part of the history books, but what terrific weather we had over the entire weekend. Until late Monday afternoon we didn’t even turn on any A/C. In the weather photo above you can see how crisp and clear the skies were at Wintergreen Winery’s Romp, Stomp and Chomp. There were tons of events all over the place and the weather was simply spectacular!
By the way, we ended up with a high for the month of August peaking at 102.6 (essentially 103 degrees) Our lowest temperature in August was 53.6 and we received 2.30 inches of rain here at NCL-Nelson County Life Magazine in Greenfield.
By contrast upon the mountain at NCL-Wintergreen Nature Foundation their highest temperature in August was 90.7 and the lowest was 55.9 degrees with 3.66 inches of rain for the month.
Today will be much like Monday. Sunny skies with hot temps around 90. There aren’t any real chances for rain on the horizon until perhaps next weekend when a cold front may make it through here. A weak front will be in the area today, but I don’t expect any real effects from it other than a shift of the winds to the north, but it will still be hot.
One final thing – Not that he’ll be affecting us, but if you’re interested in the track and progress of Hurricane Felix, you can get more information by clicking here.
There is an area of disturbed weather off the eastern seaboard that at least deserves a glance right now. If it develops into anything I’ll let you know in the next few days.
