WINTERGREEN, VA – Wintergreen Winery will hold its annual Harvest Celebration on Labor Day weekend Saturday, September 1st and Sunday, September 2nd from 10am until 6pm each day. Enjoy “Romp, Stomp & Chomp” surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains with live music, grape stomping, wine tasting, Virginia foods sampling, picnics and fun for all. The guided wine tasting includes each of the hand crafted wines including Black Rock Chardonnay Reserve, Viognier, Three Ridges White, Thomas Nelson White, Three Ridges Red, Cabernet Franc, Brent’s Mountain Merlot and the dessert specialty wine Raspberry. Selected gourmet Virginia food items including Gunther’s Gourmet salsas and dressings, Hooper’s pasta sauces, Ambrosia hummus and dips and Cyndi’s pepper jellies will be sampled throughout the weekend.
Plan to stay awhile and take in the scenery with a picnic outdoors and enjoy live music on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. Saturday kicks off with the roots rock of the Robin Wynn Band. Robin has been described as more than just another woman with a good voice and a guitar. Singing since she could speak, the Virginia native creates a mix of rock, pop and folk that grabs the ear of every person in the room. Sunday features William Walter and Co. whose music mixes elements of blues, jazz and traditional rock and roll blended with thoughtful melodies and catchy hooks. Purchase of a $7 admission per adult (children are free) on Saturday and Sunday includes the wine tasting, live music, a souvenir wine glass, grape stomping, door prize drawings, use of the winery grounds and riverside picnic areas plus wine and gift shop specials. Baked breads, prosciutto, salamis, imported and domestic cheeses, pates, olives, crackers, chips & salsas and other “wine-friendly” light picnic fare will be available for purchase to enjoy with your wine at the scenic picnic area on the banks of the Rockfish River. (The winery will be open for tasting on Labor Day Monday but there are no special activities and there is no admission fee.) No reservations are necessary. Wintergreen Winery is family-friendly and also welcomes well behaved dogs on winery grounds. Just wanted to tell everyone to come out and join us this afternoon (or tomorrow) for our “Romp, Stomp & Chomp” Harvest Celebration. The weather is gorgeous, Robin Wynn and her band sound great and we’ll be stomping some Chambourcin grapes here this afternoon so there should be a lot of purple feet around Beech Grove today.
Hope to see you…Cheers!
